let's hear it for the boys.

I've been told (by Big Sister Burg mainly...but I'm not naming any names...) that I need to start making some cute boy hats. Sorry. It's just more fun to make cutesy girl hats with massively giant flowers and such.

But I took her advice and started working on some boy hats. I have a few more that I need to post, but I think these will be a big seller in the fall!
(P.S. Only 35 more days until fall!!!)

are you ready for some football?!?!?!

have you heard???? The NFL lockout is over and the Indianapolis Colts are reporting to training camp THIS WEEKEND!!! YEAH!!!

We're a family who loveloveloves them some football! Growing up, Papa Hicks referred high school football games every Friday night. Us Hicks Girls grew up watching the Tennessee Vols darting around the field like flashes of orange. And then, we went to a Big 10 school...where football rules and the SEC drools. :)

Now we love us some Colts football--so I had to make some stuff for those tailgating Sunday's outside of Lucas Oil Stadium.

The Blue Pony headband earwarmer: $22

The Bump and Run Divine Hat: $25

The Free Agent Newsboy hat: $25

francesca models...hats!!

Francesca's been busy lately (she's my styrafoam head model....apparently, I felt the need to give her a name and now refer to her as that name. don't ask.)

Aaaannyyway. Francesca's been out on the balcony a lot these past few nights modeling her little styrafoam heart out. Doesn't she look fabulous?

The Red Poppie hat--flower is made out of red/green felt.
The flower is removeable and can be worn anywhere.

This hat has no name right now. I just can't get inspired to name it. But look how pretty? Navy blue with a hot pink flower. Totes awesome.

It's the suPURDUEper hat! Perfect for all of those Boilermaker fans out there!! Boiler up peeps!
Again, the flower is removeable (all my flowers are removeable!)

It's suPURDUEper!

Another no-namer. Geez...my creativity is lacking here.

I am totes in love with this flower though. How cute are the vintage buttons?

And the Ocean Breeze at Sunset Divine Hat. Who doesn't love the Divine Hat?? (free pattern found at http://www.rheatheylia.com/)

feather embellishments.

Sure. It's 90+ degrees here in Indy...and yet, I'm crocheting my life away on hats for the fall and winter. Oh well. I just can't help myself.

I decided to spruce things up a bit and add some festive-ness to my broadcloth flowers. I have a {slight} feather obsession...so why not add some feathers to the flowers?

ta da!!!!! Don't you just love the way it looks??

I almost can't wait until fall to bust these out!! I'll be adding these to our Etsy site this week!!

stashbuster goods!

If you remember, one of my New Year's resolutions was to use up some of my stash of yarn before buying more of it. I was only going to do this for January, but I think I'm going to carry it on through March. I don't even feel like I've made a dent in my yarn.
Anyway, here's a picture of what I had made out of my stash through last weekend.
I'm not sure you can see this but I'll give you a breakdown of what's here:
3 sets of fingerless gloves (2 black and 1 gray)
2 owl hats
2 newsboy hats with flowers
8 earwarmers
I've also made 2 additional earwarmers that aren't pictured (because they were sent to a client) so that brings my grand total up to 10 earwarmers. Are you kidding me? I still have sooooooo much yarn left! UNREAL!
I've made more stuff since taking this picture, so I'll post this each week. Hopefully, I can get this yarn stash to go away!

I cannot deny it any longer.
I have a deep affection for owls.
No no no...not the real things. Quite frankly, those little hooters scare the living crap out of me.
No, I love owls in fashion. And I LOVE that they are still all the rage right now. So here's my take on some precious little owl hats. I need to find some cute babies to model these for me. But this is what I've spent the majority of my week on. I love coming up with cute color combinations.
Boys. Girls. Owl hats are perfect for everyone!

I love this one above...because it reminds of my Harry Potter and the colors of Griffendor! :)

Teal sparkly yarn from Hobby Lobby makes my day. Literally. I get excited when I see it. I think I want to do an entire blanket out of this yarn.

Oh enough about the teal sparkly yarn...the raspberry sparkly yarn also makes me happy! :)

So cute. I love these hats so very much!
Happy crocheting!
