stashing thru the snow!

Soooo unless you've been hiding under a rock lately (how cozy can that be actually???) you know that mustaches are EVERYWHERE!! They are quite the rage, and while I don't understand what made them oh-so-popular....I lovelovelove them!

So I thought I'd incorporate this awesome trend into my annual Christmas cards.

Side note--I make my Christmas cards every year. I actually look forward to making them every December and love coming up with new and funny ideas. I always include a cute picture of me and Yankee (until I have kids...people are getting a picture of me and my dog. Deal with it.)

So here are my amaze-balls Mustache cards! I freaking LOVE the way the turned out and have gotten so many compliments on them.

And wouldn't you know it? Thanks to my Silouette machine, these bad boys were super easy to make!

the inside of the card!

Hope you and your family have stashed thru the snow this year!! We haven't gotten much of the white stuff (if any) here in Indy......yet.

Merry Christmas!

If you know me but at all, you know that I seriously love New Orleans. It, next to New York, is one of my most favorite cities in the country. (Third next to Beijing.) When I was down there in November for my friend Ashley's wedding (oh wait....have I even blogged about that yet?? oops!!), I saw a painting that I knew my sister had to have for Christmas.

Unfortunately, I didn't like the colors...didn't want to pay the money for something I knew I could do myself...didn't want to shove it in my already small carry-on luggage to bring it back to Indy...etc.

But, thankfully I do have a tiny bit of creativity in my bones and thought I'd make it myself!

And make it I did!!

Yes, I know the colors are a bit loud/bright/don't match/etc. But you know what? It's New Orleans inspired and everything down there is colorful and bright and loud and doesn't match and that's part of the reason I love it down there so much!
Pinot Noirleans!

I actually included this painting in a big New Orleans themed basket for my sister! Two bottles of Pinot Noir wine (my favorite), a fleur de lis wine glass and wine cork, a fleur de lis scarf and cookie cutter and some Cafe Du Monde coffee. She loved it!!

Now...I think I need to make myself one...

I lovelovelove trying new things. And I especially love trying new things with some of my most favorite people. On December 7, my sweet and amazing friend Co Bartel (also in charge of the Princess Program) and her daughter Blythe invited me to join them at a Wine and Canvas event.

It was so fun! We painted Monet's "Lily Pond" and had a freaking blast! It was so easy and I love how the instructors at W&C really helped you paint the best picture you could paint. We had a great time drinking wine, painting and singing along to all the awesome jams they had playing. I'll definitely be making this a reoccuring appointment!

a blank canvas. ahhh the possibilities.

let the fun begin!

probably my favorite step of the painting process...painting the water.

silly Blythe.

Co was rocking out to the music.

adding the lilly pads.

almost done!

Our masterpieces are complete!!

Seriously, it was so fun and I love that I have this painting to hang up in my apartment to remember this awesome time with my sweet Co and Blythe!

breakfast with the witches.

A Hicks family tradition the weekend of Halloween is....Breakfast With The Witches at the Children's Museum of Indianapolis!

We have lots of super cool things in Indy, but our Children's Museum is by far one of the best in the Midwest. They have absolutely everything a kid could ever imagine to play with...and it's all geared to make them learn as well.

The Breakfast With The Witches is one of our favorite things to do for Halloween. And this year, Big Sista Burgess and I decided to get super festive and make witch-hat fascinators! They were a big hit..and Baby Girl was the world's sweetest witch!

Ok so let's have a little bit of a confession time, shall we?

I'm not super fond of spending massive amounts of time in the kitchen. Truth be told, I do like to cook...but it's really not my most favorite thing to do. However, I am excellent at making appetizers. No, seriously. My old roommate, Adrianne, and I would have "Dip Nights" where we would make 6 or 7 different appetizers and just eat them and watch America's Next Top Model marathons. (We're cool.)
However, I do like to contribute to the Thanksgiving meal. My mom, dad and Big Sista Burg are all amazing cooks...and they usually have the meal taken care of. So I told Momma that I would bring fruit and veggies this year.

And bring them I did.
Last year, I made a cornucopia out of breadstick dough. So I made another one this year out of crescent roll dough (both work equally well, I just prefer the crescent roll dough because it smells better when its cooking).

And then I filled that cornucopia with fresh fruit! It was delish and was our centerpiece on the Thanksgiving table!
And I have to thank Pinterest for this one, but I made a veggie tray that looked like a Turkey! It was so cute and so easy to do.
What did you make this Thanksgiving??

dance it out Marian University.

I just got finished my largest order to date! 10 earwarmers for the Marian University girls dance team!!!

Check out how cute my friend Katie is (third from the right)! She was a 500 Festival Princess last year and put in the order for her dance team!

Marian's colors are navy blue and gold. I actually love the color combination and think the earwarmers turned out oh-so-fabulous (ifIdosaysomyself)!

I just love that there is a collegiate dance team out there wearing a handmade creation from The Hicks Girls!! (not to mention, they are gorgeous models for me!)
